Tanorria Askew transformed her love for cooking into Tanorria’s Table, a culinary brand that blends comfort, culture and creativity. From her appearance on “MasterChef” to her work as a personal chef and advocate for food justice, Askew’s mission is clear: to create soul-satisfying meals while fostering connections around the table.
Askew spent 15 years at Teachers Credit Union before leaving to follow her passion of Tanorria’s Table. During her time there, she championed the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiative and won the Mayor’s Celebration of Diversity Award. Askew has spoken to audiences as a keynote speaker, emcee and panelist about her career shift, DEI, social justice and anti-racism.
“Helping business and individuals see beyond their own biases and deep into the root of the problem is where the magic happens,” Askew said on her website. “It’s what makes everyone walk away better and ready to do the work to fight for equity.”
Askew offers cooking demonstrations, personal chef services and virtual cooking classes monthly. Aside from cooking, she provides DEI consultations, anti-racist journey consultations for companies and a podcast. Askew can also be booked as a keynote speaker for empowerment.
Askew’s cookbook, “Staples + 5: 100 Simple Recipes to Make the Most of Your Pantry” is available for purchase online and in-store and includes a guide on how to craft meals with only a few pantry essentials.
On her website, tanorriastable.com, Askew also posts recipes, shopping guides and blogs for readers to enjoy. Gift cards for dinner parties and step-by-step recipe videos can also be found there.
