Ujamaa Community Bookstore is an independent Black-owned bookstore that houses an ever-growing collection for customers of all ages.
Named to represent one of the seven pillars of Kwanzaa, Ujamaa means cooperative economics.
“We value sharing space, knowledge and resources,” Ujamaa’s website said. “Our bookstore retails many different items, such as fragrant oils, incense sticks, handcrafted jewelry, art, candles and greeting cards, all by amazing Black business owners and artisans.”
Customers can browse the bookstore’s collection online or visit in person.
According to the company’s website, the mission of Ujamaa is to be a valued resource where everyone in the community feels empowered to learn, grow and build wealth together.
“We believe in solidarity and abolition, the hopeful idea that a better world is possible, and we can create it together,” the Ujamaa Community Bookstore website said.
