Created by Candis Taylor, Laurine’s Coffee is the first Black- and woman-owned coffee shop to open on the Near Eastside.
Located across from Arsenal Technical High School, Laurine’s Coffee opened its doors to the public on July 18, 2026. The community-centered coffee shop is dedicated to serving great coffee, but beyond that, the business strives to provide a space “where everyone feels welcome,” according to the Instagram account.
Named for Taylor’s grandmother Laurine, the coffee shop was designed to emulate the energy and comfort of visiting a favorite relative’s home rather than a bustling coffee shop. The neighborhood location makes it an ideal spot for community members to hang out, work or just connect with one another while enjoying a drink and a pastry.

Laurine’s menu features a variety of drink options, from fresh coffee to handcrafted matcha, fresh-squeezed lemonade, espresso and specialty-flavored chai and lattes with house-made syrups — such as the peach cobbler chai and cookie butter latte. The shop also has a rotating selection of baked goods, including made-from-scratch peach and cherry cobblers and pound cake from Big Mama’s Cafe and Meg’s Gingerbread Latte Cookies.
The menu also features a rotation of seasonal items, including the roasted sweet potato latte, pralines and pecans latte, apple jack matcha, caramel apple chai, and mango, strawberry or blueberry sweet tea, which were recently announced just in time for fall.
