Minority Business Highlight: Golden Essence Raw Honey

Golden Essence Raw Honey comes from a Black-owned apiary right here in Indianapolis.

Local Black beekeeper Ciara Nicole Brown created Golden Essence Raw Honey in 2023 out of a simple love for honey and deep respect for nature, according to her website. Brown specializes in small-batch, raw, unfiltered honey that comes from her own hives.

“What started as a spark has grown into a thriving beekeeping venture dedicated to bringing you honey that is as authentic as the bees that create it,” the website states. “At Golden Essence, honey isn’t just a product — it’s a story of dedication, craftsmanship, and love for the environment. When you choose our honey, you’re choosing quality, authenticity, and a commitment to preserving the beauty of nature.”

Golden Essence, Raw Honey strives to “share the taste of nature’s sweetness” while supporting healthy bee populations and sustainable practices. Brown cares for her own apiary of honey bees and harvests and bottles the honey, with no additives or shortcuts, according to the website.

Customers can shop the website or find Golden Essence Raw Honey at pop-up events and vendor markets around Indianapolis. The business features 8oz and 12oz bottles of pure, unfiltered honey.
