Minority Business Highlight: Bodi Buzz Urban Farm

Bodi Buzz is a minority-owned wellness brand and urban farm based in Indianapolis, founded in January 2022 by David Johnson. The enterprise emerged from a critical observation: underserved communities face a nutrition crisis, with many living in food deserts and lacking access to fresh, healthy options.

According to the company’s vision statement, Bodi Buzz is dedicated to “putting an end to health disparities in underserved communities,” where high rates of diabetes, heart disease, obesity and cancer are prevalent.

Operating from the Circle City, Bodi Buzz transforms underutilized spaces into productive urban farms that grow fresh organic produce, herbs and natural remedies. The company’s product line includes cold-pressed juices, herbal teas, loose herbs, tinctures and vitamin supplements, all crafted to support holistic wellness. Beyond product sales, Bodi Buzz offers hands-on workshops, sustainable farming education, culturally rooted programming and health coaching for those interested in creating home food gardens.

The company’s mission is rooted in addressing systemic health disparities. Researchers have noted that even when grocery stores are introduced to underserved areas, high rates of processed food consumption persist due to a lack of nutrition education. Bodi Buzz steps in to fill this gap by “bringing nutrition back to the table” while also emphasizing environmental stewardship. The brand aims to produce over 15,000 pounds of locally grown food this year.

In January 2026, Rehab Industries, the parent company of Rehab Medical, acquired Bodi Buzz. The acquisition is designed to expand production capacity and make healthy living more accessible to Indianapolis families. Bodi Buzz operates without grant funding, relying instead on community support to provide food, educational classes and field trips.

“Having access to expanded resources through this new relationship with Rehab Industries accelerates our ability to do what we do best — serve the community through agriculture, education and wellness initiatives,” Johnson said. “It allows us to increase production, reach more families and build systems that make healthy living more accessible and sustainable for the long term.”
