Minority Business Highlight: Marsha’s Specialty Desserts & Tierney’s Catering

Marsha’s Specialty Desserts & Tierney’s Catering has been serving Hoosiers sweet treats for more than 30 years.

Owned and operated by Marsha Quarles and her family, Masha’s Specialty Desserts first opened its storefront in October 2010. Since then, the family has prided itself on being a one-stop shop for all catering needs — from plated meals for weddings, box lunches for orientations, tiered cakes, and assorted dessert bars, according to the website.

Everything, from sweet to savory and in between, is prepared fresh every day, and all items are available for customization for special occasions, including baby showers, anniversaries, weddings and graduations.

In addition to a breakfast, lunch, dinner and children’s catering menu, Marsha’s Specialty Desserts offers a variety of customizable cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, pies, brownies, cobblers, cookies and grazing tables.

Marsha’s Specialty Desserts & Tierney’s Catering prides itself in being a member of Indiana Grown and an Indiana Certified Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise. The business was also juried into Indiana Artisan, featured in the Indiana Artisan Marketplace in Carmel, Indiana and was the Indianapolis Zoo’s Zoobilation People’s Choice Award Winner in 2018 and 2019.

Marsha’s Specialty Desserts & Tierney’s Catering is located at 10834 E. US Highway 36 in Avon. The storefront is open by appointment only, but the Quarles family can be found at pop-ups and festivals around Indianapolis, including the HBCU All-Stars Game in April 2026, the Juneteenth Foodways Festival, the Indiana State Fair and the Avon Gardens Peony Festival.
