Minority Business Highlight: The Flying Cupcake

The Flying Cupcake is a woman-owned cupcake shop that serves Hoosiers all over the city, with locations in Castleton, Carmel and on Massachusetts Ave. Those with a sweet tooth will find themselves at home in this gourmet cupcake shop.

Kate Drury, now retired, was the owner and mastermind behind this operation.  The Flying Cupcake ‘s website states, “Since opening in 2007, we have been honored again and again as a top cupcake bakery.”

This shop has been highlighted in a multitude of magazines and top eatery lists. In 2015 the shop was ranked 14th in Buzzfeed’s “25 Sweet Cupcake Shops Around the World to Eat at Before You Die”. It was also highlighted as a prime dessert location by CNN in 2012 during their coverage of Super Bowl XLVI which took place in Indianapolis.

Their menu features both classic and unique cupcake options and flavors. For those looking for a holiday surprise, The Flying Cupcake also features a seasonal menu for Valentine’s Day that includes items such as an “Oh My! Dubai Chocolate” and vanilla rosette cupcakes.
