Life in Indy Partners with Murdock LLC to Launch New Storytelling Workshop Series

Interactive workshops to empower local storytellers, highlight how narrative shapes the Indy region

INDIANAPOLIS. The Indy Chamber and its Life in Indy initiative today announced a new, three-part storytelling workshop series, in partnership with Murdock LLC and hosted by Anthony Murdock II. The three workshop session was created to empower Indy region residents, business owners and brand storytellers to unlock the power of their personal story. Each of the three workshop sessions will build upon foundational
skills to use the tool of narrative to grow a business, personal brand, or the story of Indy’s community.

Taking place October 13, 20, and 27 at the Polk Stables Polklore Museum, these storytelling workshops align with Life in Indy’s broader regional storytelling imperatives. Following April’s inaugural Story Summit and the completion of the “INDY: I’m Not Done Yet” campaign, the initiative continues to invest in elevating Indy’s regional profile through storytelling.

“An individual’s story is their most valuable asset, whether they’re telling it to elevate their journey, business, or community.” Murdock said. “I’m excited to equip and upskill a new class of storytellers. This workshop series is built to empower you to take your narrative to the next level.”

Session 1: Oct. 13
Foundation & Frameworks for Storytelling – In this session, participants will learn about two frameworks for entrepreneurial storytelling, giving them an evergreen tool to turn their experiences and perspectives into assets they can leverage for impact and ROI.

Session 2: Oct. 20
Skill-building for Leaders who Leverage Storytelling – Building off the previous week, this skill-building. Experience will teach participants how to leverage the story assets they created to break, build, and bridge.

Session 3: Oct. 27
Put It Into Practice! – This session will build off the first two sessions, providing time and space for participants to apply what they have learned in real-life and mock scenarios that mirror their life and career experiences.

Workshop tickets are available on Eventbrite individually or as a three-part course, giving attendees the chance to learn directly from an experienced storyteller and leave with tools to advance both their narrative
and their business.

“Elevating Indy’s profile through regional storytelling is at the heart of the Life in Indy initiative,” Joe Pellman, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the Indy Chamber, stated. “Bringing that strategic imperative to new audiences across our region with these storytelling workshops is an exciting new step
towards that mission.”

Since Life in Indy’s launch in 2020, the Indy Chamber has worked with hundreds of local employers and civic partners to elevate Indy’s story through national media pitching, talent attraction, messaging development and content collaborations. Research during this process revealed a lower sense of civic pride amongst Indy residents compared to peer markets, outlining the need for storytelling that builds passionate resident
advocates while highlighting the uniqueness of the community. October’s storytelling workshops are the latest iteration of this strategic imperative, following recent renewed support of $2.25 million in grant funding from Lilly Endowment Inc.
