Indy Chamber names Greg Stowers vice president of Local Government Affairs

The Indy Chamber has selected a seasoned civic leader to spearhead its local advocacy efforts. The organization announced on Dec. 15 the appointment of Greg Stowers as its new vice president of Local Government Affairs.

Stowers brings more than a decade of experience in public policy and multi-sector collaboration to the role, where he will lead the Chamber’s strategy on local government issues.

He joins the Chamber after serving as chief administrative officer and policy director for the Indianapolis City-County Council. In that capacity, he played a central role in shaping legislative priorities and managing operations for the city’s legislative body.

“Greg brings deep experience, trusted relationships and a solutions-driven leadership style that will significantly strengthen the Chamber’s advocacy on behalf of the Indy region,” Chief of Staff at the Indy Chamber Taylor Hughes said. “His ability to translate policy into meaningful, community-centered outcomes makes him an invaluable addition to our team.”

A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Stowers has established a diverse career spanning the public, nonprofit and private sectors. His resume includes leadership positions at Ice Miller LLP, Kiwanis International and Leadership Indianapolis.

His work consistently focuses on connecting communities to policy and innovation. Stowers describes himself as a collaborative leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy and community impact.

In his new position, Stowers focuses on advancing policy priorities that drive business competitiveness and inclusive economic growth. The role is critical for the Chamber as it works to shape a regional economy that leads the Midwest.

Stowers’ commitment to civic engagement extends beyond his professional roles. He currently serves on the boards of Indy Hub, the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation, Flanner House and Indianapolis Indians Charities.

He also leads Hashtag Lunchbag Indianapolis, a volunteer initiative that addresses food insecurity. Under his leadership, the program has provided more than 40,000 meals to residents in need while educating volunteers about homelessness.

Stowers is a graduate of Indiana State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. His accolades include being named to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 class in 2023 and participating in the prestigious Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series.
