The Indiana Latino Institute (ILI) received a $75,000 grant from the Indianapolis Foundation to support its workforce development and internship programs, helping students gain professional experience and prepare for careers.
The Indiana Latino Institute is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Latino educational attainment, workforce preparedness, health promotion, and leadership development across Indiana.
With support from the Indianapolis Foundation, ILI will expand access to internship opportunities, provide financial support to participating students and strengthen connections between young people and employers throughout Central Indiana. According to a press release, this investment will help more students in Indianapolis and surrounding communities gain valuable work experience, build professional skills, and take important steps toward successful careers.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Indianapolis Foundation for this investment,” President and CEO of the Indiana Latino Institute Andrew Penalva said. “An internship can be so much more than just work experience. For some students, it’s an opportunity that can change the course of their lives. This funding will allow us to give more young people that opportunity, and that’s something we’re really excited about.”
The Indianapolis Foundation aims to foster a community where all residents have equitable access to opportunity and can thrive through strategic grantmaking and community leadership that strengthen Indianapolis and improve the quality of life for its residents, according to their website.
The grant reflects a shared commitment to creating thriving communities by increasing access to resources, strengthening local organizations and supporting residents in achieving their full potential.
